Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid have booked their places in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League after a tense night of quarter-final action on Tuesday.
PSG advanced at the expense of Liverpool, building on their first-leg advantage. After a quiet first half at Anfield, Ousmane Dembele came alive in the second half, scoring twice to seal a comfortable passage into the last four.
In Spain, Atletico Madrid progressed despite a 2-1 loss at home to Barcelona at the Wanda Metropolitano. Diego Simeone’s side had done the hard work earlier with a 2-0 win at the Camp Nou.
The tie was finely balanced, but Ademola Lookman’s decisive goal ensured Atletico edged through on aggregate, despite efforts from Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres, who had briefly brought Barcelona level across both legs.
Looking ahead, PSG will face the winner between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, while Atletico Madrid will take on either Arsenal or Sporting CP in the semi-finals.
