2027: Unity, Grassroots Support Will Drive Victory, Not Northern Endorsements — Peter Obi

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi, has stressed that national unity and grassroots development remain the key factors for winning broad support across Nigeria, dismissing suggestions that his 2027 ambition hinges on endorsements from northern political heavyweights.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV on Monday, Obi argued that Nigeria’s persistent challenges are largely rooted in deep divisions along religious and ethnic lines.

He maintained that the country requires leadership capable of bridging these divides and fostering a sense of collective identity among citizens, rather than relying on elite political backing from any particular region.

Obi noted that his political philosophy is anchored on engaging citizens at the grassroots level, empowering communities, and building trust across different segments of the population.

He further emphasized that sustainable progress can only be achieved through inclusive governance that prioritizes unity, economic development, and the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.

The former Anambra State governor reiterated his commitment to a people-driven movement, insisting that genuine national support must come from across all regions, not from a narrow circle of influential endorsements.
