President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has announced automatic employment for the two sons of his late police rider, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hussani Ibrahim, who died in a road accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday.
Akpabio made the announcement on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday while formally informing his colleagues of the tragic incident. DSP Ibrahim, who served as the Senate President’s rider, has since been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
The Senate President expressed deep sympathy to the family of the deceased officer, the Inspector General of Police, and the entire Nigeria Police Force, describing the loss as painful and significant.
According to Akpabio, the offer of automatic employment to DSP Ibrahim’s sons is a personal gesture of support aimed at honouring the late officer’s service, dedication, and sacrifice to duty.
In a related development, the Senate also paid tribute to Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur, who recently passed away. The late Tukur served for 25 years as a driver to the Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho, and was described as a committed and dedicated staff member.
The Senate, during plenary, observed a minute of silence in honour of the deceased and offered prayers, asking Almighty God to grant the repose of their souls and comfort their families.
