… Alleged Bondi shooter is out of coma, Australian media report
Twenty-two people injured in the Bondi Beach attack are still being treated in various Sydney hospitals, NSW Health confirmed on Tuesday evening. Three patients are in critical condition, six are listed as critical but stable, while 13 others — including two children — are in stable condition. Health officials said patients are gradually being discharged, although some may require follow-up treatment.
Meanwhile, Australian media organisations, including 9 News and 7 News, report that the alleged attacker, Naveed Akram, has emerged from a coma. Akram sustained serious injuries when the attack ended and has remained hospitalised since Sunday.
CNN has contacted New South Wales Police for confirmation. Authorities said the suspect is expected to face serious criminal charges related to the attack, which left 15 people dead, but noted he must be fully conscious before formal charges can be laid.
