US Representative Riley Moore has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu following the launch of a new US-Nigeria security partnership aimed at strengthening national security and combating terrorism in the country.
In a statement released on Monday, Moore praised National Security Advisor Nuhu Ribadu for a “productive and positive” discussion with the US Congressional delegation to Nigeria. He said the talks outlined concrete steps that, if implemented, could enhance security nationwide, disrupt terrorist organizations in the northeast, and protect vulnerable communities in the Middle Belt.
Moore also commended the Nigerian government, including the Abuja-based Anti-Banditry Agency (@officialABAT), for rescuing 100 Catholic school children, describing it as a “positive demonstration” of the administration’s commitment to the emergency security measures introduced by President Tinubu.
Highlighting the cooperation between the two nations, Moore said the newly established joint task force between Nigeria and the US exemplifies the potential for a cooperative security framework. He emphasized that while progress has been made, continued action and engagement are necessary to address ongoing threats.
“The US’ sense of urgency on our concerns was positively received,” Moore said, adding that he looks forward to “the next steps with the Nigerian government and the continued open dialogue.”
He concluded by sending well wishes to Nigerians, saying, “Peace be with you all. God bless the great people of Nigeria.”
