President Volodymyr Zelensky says handing over Ukrainian territory to Russia remains the key obstacle in peace discussions linked to a US-supported proposal.
US and Ukrainian officials met in Geneva over the weekend, and Donald Trump hinted that “something good” might be developing — though he cautioned people to “wait and see.”
In a video address to a conference in Sweden, Zelensky warned that Vladimir Putin is seeking formal recognition of occupied Ukrainian lands, undermining the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
European leaders have criticised the draft plan since it surfaced last week, arguing it leans too heavily in Moscow’s favour.
The US says the Geneva talks led to “revisions and clarifications” to the proposal, while Russia says it has not yet reviewed any updated version.
