Armed bandits attempted to invade Odorum in Egbe, Yagba West LGA of Kogi State in the early hours of Monday, November 24, 2025, but were successfully repelled by local vigilantes.
According to sources, the Egbe Vigilante Team engaged the attackers in a brief but fierce exchange, forcing them to retreat. Their swift and coordinated action is credited with averting what could have been a major security incident. Early reports indicate that there were no casualties, and the community was effectively secured.
This incident comes days after SaharaReporters detailed the abduction of a timber dealer and his worker in Okoloke, also in Yagba West. The victims were kidnapped from a farm after gunmen suddenly stormed the area, shooting into the air and scattering the workers. A labourer who escaped confirmed that the kidnappers seized the timber supplier and a staff member before taking them into the forest.
Communities across Yagba East and Yagba West, especially those along the Kwara State border, have witnessed an alarming increase in armed attacks, kidnappings, and other violent crimes in recent months.
