The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) winner of the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State.
According to the official results announced at the state collation centre in Awka, Soludo secured a landslide victory with 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Valentine Ozigbo, came third with 65,231 votes.
INEC confirmed that Soludo won in all 21 local government areas of the state, surpassing the constitutional requirement of securing the highest number of votes and at least 25 percent in two-thirds of the LGAs. The result marks a continuation of APGA’s political dominance in Anambra, where the party has held the governorship since 2006.
Following the announcement, celebrations erupted in parts of Awka, Nnewi, and Onitsha as supporters hailed Soludo’s re-election as a vote of confidence in his administration. Speaking shortly after his victory was declared, Soludo expressed gratitude to the electorate and promised to consolidate on his first-term achievements in infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment.
Election observers noted that the poll was largely peaceful, though voter turnout remained low in several areas. INEC officials acknowledged isolated reports of vote-buying but stated that investigations would follow any substantiated claims.
Soludo, a former Central Bank of Nigeria governor, will now serve a second term as governor of Anambra State, pending the issuance of his certificate of return by INEC. His victory is widely seen as a reaffirmation of APGA’s grassroots strength and continuity in the state’s political landscape.
