US Lawmaker Slams Nigeria for Failing to Curb Killings Despite Billions in Military Aid

Riley Moore, a US lawmaker leading President Donald Trump’s committee investigating alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria, has accused the Nigerian government of failing to justify the billions of dollars in military aid it has received from Washington.

Speaking on the Dinesh D’Souza programme, Moore condemned what he described as ongoing genocide against Christians in Nigeria, blaming both Nigerian authorities and the international community for years of silence.

He warned that if Nigeria fails to act, the United States may be forced to intervene, saying cooperation between both countries remains the preferred option.

Moore criticized Abuja for neglecting the protection of Christians despite years of US funding, training, and military equipment. He urged Nigeria and its partners to move beyond rhetoric and take concrete action to stop what he called a “forgotten genocide.”

In response, President Trump reiterated that Nigeria has been redesignated as a “Country of Particular Concern” over mass killings of Christians. He warned that the US could cut aid or take military action if the violence continues, insisting that Washington “cannot stand by while such atrocities happen.”

Nigeria’s government rejected the allegations, saying security challenges in the country affect all communities regardless of religion and denying claims of any Christian genocide.
