Rev Ezekiel Dachomo, regional chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations in Barkin Ladi, has accused politicians of bringing armed Fulani fighters into Plateau State to target Christians after the United States labelled Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern.
In a video he posted on social media, Mr Dachomo said his sources show thousands of militants, mainly from Bauchi and other areas, have set up camps along Plateau borders and are moving into communities through violent raids and land grabs. He claimed the fighters and their backers want to carry out mass killings before any possible deployment of US forces.
“Already they have declared war on Plateau State,” he said. “Last night we buried a man and today two more were killed. This morning they are bringing in Fulani fighters from Bauchi and other places. They are trooping into Dorowa and camping in nearby Nyarwei in Faan district. We will defend ourselves to the death.”
Mr Dachomo urged Christians to pray, saying spiritual action would be more effective than weapons. He repeated earlier warnings about attacks in the Dorowa area that first circulated in October and that later went viral.
Security agencies dismissed his previous claims as false and incendiary. Military spokespeople accused him of spreading propaganda intended to inflame ethnic and religious tensions and warned him to stop or face legal consequences. The statement also rejected allegations that a Fulani leader had influenced security forces or that there was collusion with militant groups.
Despite official denials, coordinated attacks struck three communities in Barkin Ladi on the same night Mr Dachomo posted his video, with local reports putting the death toll at more than 17. The incidents have renewed calls for an independent probe into who organised the raids and how security failures occurred.
