Chad Reportedly Shuts Border with Nigeria over Alleged U.S. Military Plans in West Africa

The Government of Chad has reportedly ordered the immediate closure of its border with Nigeria, allegedly due to security concerns linked to reports of possible U.S. military plans in West Africa.

Military sources in N’Djamena allegedly confirmed on Monday that President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno directed a full military lockdown along the Nigerian border after intelligence reportedly indicated that armed groups from northern Nigeria might attempt to cross into Chadian territory.

According to the sources, the Chadian army has been placed on high alert, with troops and armoured vehicles reportedly deployed across major border routes connecting both nations.

President Déby was quoted as allegedly warning that “no armed group or foreign force will be allowed to enter Chadian soil under any disguise.”

The decision comes amid rising regional tension and growing speculation surrounding alleged U.S. military movements in parts of West Africa. Security observers reportedly described the move as a precautionary measure intended to protect Chad’s sovereignty and prevent infiltration by militants taking advantage of the volatile regional climate.
