Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has said he feels sorry for men who have only one wife, insisting that polygamy brings greater stability and balance to marriage.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday, Nwoko compared monogamy to “standing on one leg,” claiming that multiple wives provide better equilibrium for men.
“I feel sorry for those who have one wife. Just imagine standing on one leg — it’s difficult. But with two, three, or four, you’re more balanced. That’s the example I give,” he said.
When challenged about the biblical position on polygamy, the senator replied, “The Old Testament does. I am a man of faith. But that’s not what we are here for.”
Nwoko, who is married to six wives, stated that he has no regrets about his marital choices.
“No, I don’t have any regret. I would do the same thing again. You should marry who you want to marry,” he maintained.
The lawmaker also dismissed recent social media reports alleging domestic violence involving his actress wife, Regina Daniels, describing them as false and baseless.
“I am not a violent person. I respect my wives and love them and my kids,” he clarified.
His remarks come amid online buzz following Regina Daniels’ recent unveiling of a new mansion, which she described as “a home fit for a queen.”
The senator’s comments have since sparked mixed reactions across social media, with many Nigerians debating his stance on polygamy and marital “balance.”
