Big Brother Naija Season 10 winner, Opeyemi Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi, has revealed her plans to establish a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) dedicated to empowering and supporting the girl child across Nigeria.
Imisi made the announcement shortly after receiving an additional ₦2 million cheque from BetKing at an event held recently in Lagos. The prize was in recognition of a competition she won while in the BBNaija house, sponsored by the betting company.
Speaking at the event, Imisi described the gesture as both “overwhelming and inspiring,” expressing deep gratitude for the opportunity the BBNaija platform provided.
“I am overwhelmed, happy, and grateful. Things are still feeling like a dream to me, but I really want to do something meaningful for the girl child,” she said. “Growing up wasn’t easy; it was a dramatic time for me. That’s why I’ve always had the desire to create something that supports girls going through similar struggles.”
The reality TV star, who has a background in acting, acknowledged the impact of Big Brother Naija in boosting her career and visibility. “I’ve been an actress for a while, but Big Brother really gave me the exposure I needed. I’m grateful because it means a whole lot to me,” she added.
During the presentation, Nengi Akinola, Head of Marketing at BetKing, commended Imisi’s performance during the show and explained the company’s rationale behind sponsoring in-house competitions.
She noted that the initiative aimed to reward housemates while also introducing BetKing’s exclusive gaming experiences to a broader entertainment audience.
“We launched exclusive games like Danfo Lagos, inspired by Nigeria’s iconic buses, JJ Ball X in collaboration with Jay Jay Okocha, and Film House, which celebrates women’s resilience. Big Brother Naija provided us a perfect platform to connect with entertainment-loving audiences,” Akinola said.
She further stated that BetKing is currently reviewing the partnership’s impact and hinted at possible future collaborations, adding, “The possibilities are endless. We’re analysing the value we’ve gained this season and will explore what the future holds.”
Imisi’s proposed NGO is expected to focus on education, mentorship, and empowerment programs for underprivileged girls, aligning with her passion for creating lasting social impact.
