The Member representing Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency, Hon. Terseer Ugbor , has joined the global community to commemorate the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, with the theme, “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead.”
In his message to mark the occasion, Hon. Ugbor described the girl child as the foundation of a prosperous and balanced society, emphasizing the importance of giving every girl equal opportunities to thrive.

He stated that empowering the girl child is not merely a social responsibility but a moral and national obligation, stressing that education remains the greatest tool for liberation and sustainable development. The lawmaker urged parents, communities, and government institutions to create an enabling environment where girls can grow free from discrimination, early marriage, and gender-based violence.
Hon. Ugbor, who serves as the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Environment, reaffirmed his commitment to champion policies and programs that promote gender equality and girl-child education across his constituency and beyond.
He further pledged his continued support for the Special Seat Bill for Women in the National Assembly, adding that he will keep advocating for the inclusion of women in leadership positions and ensuring that their voices are heard, respected, and valued.
“Investing in the girl child is investing in the nation’s future,” Ugbor stated, reiterating his belief that empowering girls today will build stronger, more equitable communities tomorrow.
