At least five people were killed when armed bandits attacked a mosque during early morning prayers in Yandoto village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The assault, which occurred on Friday morning, threw the community into panic. Witnesses reported that the gunmen stormed the mosque, shooting indiscriminately and killing five worshippers instantly while injuring several others.
Residents said an unspecified number of people were also abducted during the raid before the attackers fled into the surrounding forest. Describing the act as “barbaric and inhuman,” one source confirmed that the injured are receiving treatment and responding positively.
When contacted, the Zamfara State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, stated that he had not yet been briefed on the incident by the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area.
