The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a resounding victory in the just-concluded Rivers State local government elections, winning 20 out of the 23 chairmanship seats.
The Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Dr. Michael Odey, announced the results on Sunday at the commission’s headquarters along Aba Road, Port Harcourt.
According to Odey, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured the remaining three local governments, preventing a total shutout in the exercise.

Dr. Odey further disclosed that certificates of return will be presented to all winners on Monday, September 1.
This election marks a significant milestone for the APC, as it is the first time the party has achieved such sweeping dominance in Rivers State since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999.
