Nigeria’s largest carrier, Air Peace, has taken delivery of its fourth Boeing 777 aircraft, strengthening its intercontinental operations and paving the way for new routes across Europe, South America, and the Caribbean.
The wide-body Boeing 777-200 ER, with registration number 5N-CEG, landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 3:32 p.m. from Teruel, Spain. It was received with a ceremonial water-cannon salute and a warm welcome led by the airline’s Chairman, Allen Onyema, alongside senior executives.
Configured with 312 seats—26 in Business Class and 286 in Economy—the aircraft offers premium inflight comfort, with spacious seating and enhanced passenger amenities.
Air Peace’s Chairman, Allen Onyema, described the milestone as “a pivotal step in the airline’s global expansion strategy,” confirming that the aircraft will be deployed within two months for long-haul flights from Abuja to London Heathrow and Gatwick.
Beyond the UK, the airline also plans to open routes to major European cities, South America—particularly direct flights to São Paulo, Brazil—and new destinations in the Caribbean. This expansion builds on Air Peace’s pioneering operations into Antigua and Barbuda as well as St. Kitts and Nevis.
Onyema reiterated the airline’s mission to democratize international travel for Nigerians, saying:
“Air Peace is committed to offering Nigerians fair and affordable access to international travel while breaking the monopoly of high fares long imposed by foreign carriers.”
He, however, stressed the urgent need for improved aviation infrastructure in Nigeria, particularly an efficient hub system to enhance both regional and international connectivity.
The airline chief also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for policies supporting indigenous airlines, and to Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Senator Festus Keyamo, for championing initiatives that position Nigerian carriers for global competitiveness.
