In Ovia Federal Constituency, Hon. Omosede Igbinedion of the APC was declared winner after polling 77,053 votes to defeat PDP’s Johnny Aikpitanyi, who scored 3,838 votes. The results were announced by INEC Returning Officer, Professor Clement Ighodalo, at the Ovia West Local Government Area council hall in Iguobazuwa.
Speaking after his declaration, Senator-elect Joseph Ikpea dedicated his victory to God and the people of Edo Central, stressing that they had “chosen vision over sentiment, progress over politics-as-usual.” He pledged to provide quality representation and not disappoint his constituents.
“I will work hand in hand with our governor, our party, and community leaders to ensure that every part of Edo Central feels the impact of quality representation,” Ikpea said. He praised Governor Monday Okpebholo as a “strategic, selfless leader deeply connected to the people,” noting that his support played a stabilising role throughout the campaign.
The senator-elect also promised to focus on legislation and interventions in infrastructure, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, and the strengthening of traditional institutions.
