Tinubu’s Subsidy Regime Benefits States, LGs – Gov. Sule

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s subsidy removal policy, describing it as a game changer for states and local governments across the country.

According to Hobnob News, Sule, while hosting former council chairmen and councillors on a solidarity visit, said the current subsidy regime is unlike that of previous administrations, as proceeds from the removal are now directly channelled to states and local governments for development purposes.

He explained that the increased revenue has enabled his administration to offset part of gratuities owed since the 1970s, settle workers’ salaries, and fund visible infrastructural projects across both urban and rural areas of the state.

Dismissing speculation that he has endorsed any of the 28 governorship aspirants for the 2027 elections, Sule maintained that he will only support a candidate with the vision and capacity to sustain Nasarawa’s development trajectory.

The governor assured that all outstanding gratuities would be cleared within the next three months. He also reaffirmed his commitment to driving economic growth through strategic projects, including the establishment of Africa’s largest lithium processing plant in the state.
