Troops of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, working in collaboration with other security agencies, have rescued six kidnapped victims during a coordinated operation in Obajana, Kogi State.
According to Hobnob News, the early morning operation on Thursday, 14 August 2025, was launched following credible intelligence on the captives’ location. Acting swiftly, the troops tracked the kidnappers to a forest hideout, engaged them with superior firepower, and freed all six victims unharmed.
The armed gang reportedly fled with gunshot wounds, abandoning their captives along with ammunition and other items. Preliminary investigations revealed that four of the victims were abducted on 12 August in Asinwe community, Okehi Local Government Area, while the remaining two were kidnapped on 28 July in Apata community, Lokoja.
Among those freed was the Seriki Fulani of Asinwe, Mallam Adamu Zage, who was taken from his home during the attack.

He warned kidnappers and bandits to desist from criminal acts or face decisive military action, stressing that operations will intensify across Kogi and neighboring states to deny criminals safe havens.
