The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 66 suspected internet fraudsters in coordinated sting operations across Ogun and Lagos states.
According to the Commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the arrests followed credible and actionable intelligence on the suspects’ alleged involvement in cybercrime.
On Wednesday, 55 suspects were arrested at K Hotel in Itori, Ewekoro area of Ogun State. The operation led to the recovery of six exotic cars, two locally-made pistols, one motorcycle, multiple laptops and mobile phones, incriminating documents, and 89 unclaimed phones.
A separate raid on Thursday at Tulip Haven, Chevron, Lekki, Lagos, resulted in the arrest of 11 more suspects. Items seized included one Range Rover, three Mercedes-Benz vehicles, two Lexus cars, one Toyota vehicle, 15 iPhones, two Android phones, a Nokia torch phone, and a MacBook.
Oyewale confirmed that all suspects have provided useful information during interrogation and will be charged to court soon.
