President Tinubu Extends Tenure of Customs Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi by One Year

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved a one-year extension of the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.

Mr. Adeniyi’s current tenure, which was set to expire on August 31, 2025, will now run for an additional year, allowing him to consolidate ongoing reforms and complete key initiatives of the Tinubu administration.

According to a statement from the Presidency, the extension is intended to ensure continuity in the modernisation of the Nigeria Customs Service and facilitate the implementation of vital national projects, including:

  • The full deployment of the National Single Window Project;
  • Advancing Nigeria’s commitments under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement; and
  • Enhancing trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security across the country.

President Tinubu acknowledged Mr. Adeniyi’s “steadfast leadership and commitment to service,” noting that his continued leadership will help solidify progress in critical sectors and support the broader goals of the administration’s economic agenda.
