The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has commenced disciplinary proceedings against 151 senior officers accused of various forms of misconduct and professional breaches.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, confirmed that the affected officers—ranked Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and above—are undergoing a thorough and transparent disciplinary review at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The sessions, which began on Monday, July 14, are scheduled to run through Friday, July 25, 2025.
“The Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) is an internal mechanism dedicated to upholding professional standards within the NPF. It reviews allegations of misconduct, ethical violations, and dereliction of duty,” the statement noted.
The officers under investigation were drawn from various state commands and police formations across the country.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline, corruption, and abuse of power within the Force.
“This process underscores our unwavering resolve to maintain discipline and professionalism within the ranks. No officer, regardless of rank, is above accountability,” Egbetokun stated.
Findings from the committee hearings will be forwarded to the Police Service Commission for further action, including possible sanctions or exoneration, in accordance with extant police laws and procedures.
The IGP also emphasized that the move is part of broader efforts to rebuild public confidence and ensure the police operates as a service-oriented and law-abiding institution.
