FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc has announced the appointment of Mr. Yinka Sanni as the new Chairman of its Board of Directors, following the retirement of Mr. Moyo Ajekigbe, OFR, who held the role for 15 impactful years.
This major leadership transition was disclosed in a statement released on Wednesday by the company’s Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, Ore Famurewa.
WAMCO lauded Ajekigbe for his outstanding leadership and lasting contributions, especially in guiding the dairy giant through multiple phases of strategic growth and transformation — most notably, the launch and expansion of its local dairy development initiatives.
Under Ajekigbe’s leadership, FrieslandCampina WAMCO recorded significant milestones, implementing forward-thinking strategies that boosted its market presence and aligned with global best practices in dairy nutrition.
Stepping into his shoes is Mr. Yinka Sanni, a seasoned financial expert with over 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. His expertise spans retail and wholesale banking, asset management, and corporate strategy.
Famurewa noted, “The expertise Mr. Sanni brings to the Board covers not only banking and finance but also a strong strategic vision, which is crucial for WAMCO’s continued growth and innovation in the dairy sector.”
Sanni has served in top-tier leadership roles, including Group Executive at Standard Bank Group. He was also the Chief Executive Officer, Africa Region, of the Standard Bank Group and previously led Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC.
An alumnus of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, with a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, he also holds an MBA from Obafemi Awolowo University. Sanni further sharpened his executive leadership skills at Harvard Business School and The Wharton School.
