Terror Network Uncovered: Military Nabs 4 Pakistanis Over Suspected Links to Boko Haram, ISWAP

Maiduguri, Nigeria | Hobnob News — In a major development in Nigeria’s fight against insurgency, the Nigerian military has arrested four Pakistani nationals over alleged involvement in arms trafficking and training terrorist groups operating in the North-East.

The arrest was disclosed by Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, during a media briefing with defence correspondents on Wednesday.

“Preliminary investigations indicate these foreigners are connected to arms running and have been providing tactical support to terrorist groups,” Abubakar revealed.

According to him, the infiltration of foreign operatives has significantly escalated the capabilities of groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP, equipping them with advanced tactics and weaponry.

“The recent arrest of four Pakistani nationals, whose initial investigation suggests they deal in arms running with terrorists, is instructive,” the commander said.

Abubakar warned that these foreign mercenaries are not only supplying weapons, but are also training terrorists in the use of drones, IEDs, and ambush tactics designed to target Nigerian military personnel.

“These mercenaries facilitate tactical and strategic training, including the deployment of drones for both surveillance and direct attacks,” he explained.

Rising Threat Requires Global Response

The commander called for international cooperation and stronger regional intelligence-sharing mechanisms to disrupt cross-border terror networks.

“This alarming trend calls for an immediate coordinated response, including intensified intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations, as well as stronger collaboration with neighbouring countries,” he urged.

He emphasized that the ongoing insurgency is not just a battle against the military, but a war on Nigeria as a nation.

“The Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists are not waging war against the armed forces — they are waging war against Nigeria,” Abubakar stated.

Frontline Heroes Deserve National Recognition

Commending the bravery of troops serving under extreme and dangerous conditions, Abubakar called on the public and media to recognize and celebrate their sacrifices.

“Our troops are out here in difficult terrain and harsh weather — sometimes freezing cold at night. They are heroes, and the least we can do is acknowledge their efforts,” he said.

“This fight isn’t just about the army. It’s about every Nigerian. When we stand united, we will defeat terrorism.”
