A member of the Kano State House of Assembly representing Sumaila Constituency, Hon. Zubairu Hamza Masu, has defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a resignation letter addressed to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ismail Falgore, Masu cited deepening factionalism and ongoing litigations within the NNPP as the main reasons for his departure.
The Speaker read the letter during Monday’s plenary, announcing Masu’s resignation effective from May 12, 2025. Masu pledged full loyalty to the APC leadership at ward, state, and national levels.
He noted that multiple individuals were laying claim to the party’s leadership, including Dr. Suleiman Hashim Dungurawa and Senator Mas’ud El-Jibrin Doguwa at the state level, and Dr. Ahmed Ajuji and Dr. Agbo Major at the national level, with court cases further destabilising the party.
