BENIN CITY — The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Edo State chapter, has lauded Governor Monday Okpebholo for increasing the state’s minimum wage from N70,000 to N75,000, calling it a timely intervention to ease the economic pressure faced by workers.
Acting NLC Chairman, Bernard Egwekhide, gave the commendation during the May Day celebration held on Thursday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
“In just six months, your performance has surpassed our expectations. You’ve shown a strong commitment to workers’ welfare and initiated impactful reforms,” Egwekhide stated.
The labour leader praised the May Day theme, “Reclaiming the Civil Space in the Midst of Economic Hardship,” as a reflection of the present-day struggles of workers across the nation.
