Omo-Agege Urges APC to Roll Out Red Carpet for Defecting PDP Leaders in Delta

Immediate past Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State to warmly welcome defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

Breaking his silence on the wave of political realignments, Omo-Agege emphasized that the APC national leadership and other key stakeholders are carefully managing the ongoing defections.

In a statement personally signed and shared with journalists in Warri on Sunday, he urged all APC members to “turn out en masse” to receive the incoming leaders who have abandoned the PDP for the APC.

Highlighting the significance of the development, Omo-Agege noted that the mass defection reflects the growing success of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which is driving national growth and development.

The statement partly reads:

“The leadership of the Delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) warmly welcomes His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and other PDP leaders and members into the APC. This historic move highlights the success of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Following extensive deliberations with our national leadership, the Progressive Governors Forum, and Delta APC stakeholders, I assure all party faithful that any concerns arising from this development are being prudently and thoughtfully addressed in the best interests of our party and our beloved state.”

Omo-Agege urged members to embrace the development with unity, understanding, and a collective focus on the progress of Delta State and Nigeria.

He further encouraged all APC Local Government and Ward Chairmen, executives, members, and supporters to show strong support by attending the welcome ceremony scheduled for Monday, April 28, 2025, in Asaba.

Concluding, he expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the APC leadership for their support, describing the defections as a reaffirmation of the party’s commitment to progressive governance and a brighter, more prosperous future for both Delta State and Nigeria.
