The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspects linked to the tragic death of an 18-year-old girl following an unsafe abortion.
CSP Ahmed Wakil, spokesperson for the command, revealed to Hobnob News on Thursday that the heartbreaking incident was reported on April 4, 2025, though it occurred roughly four months earlier in Misau town.
According to Wakil, preliminary investigations indicate that the first and second suspects allegedly lured the teenager into repeated sexual encounters. Upon discovering she was pregnant, the pair reportedly conspired with a third suspect, Abubakar Mohammed, paying him N40,000 to administer an injection aimed at terminating the pregnancy.
“The injection resulted in severe health complications,” Wakil stated. “The victim was initially taken to the General Hospital in Misau and later referred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Azare, where she was sadly pronounced dead despite intensive medical efforts.”
He further disclosed that the arrested individuals have named ten additional accomplices, who are currently being investigated by detectives at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Misau.
Wakil assured the public of the command’s unwavering commitment to justice, adding that the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
