President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Abuja on Monday night following a productive two-week working visit to Europe, where he engaged in high-level strategic discussions aimed at bolstering regional security and economic development.
His aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at exactly 9:50 p.m., where he was warmly received by top government officials. Welcoming the President were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu; and FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
President Tinubu had departed Nigeria on April 2, spending time in Paris and London during the visit. While in Europe, he maintained direct oversight of national affairs through continuous engagement with his team back home, including issuing critical directives to security agencies to address rising threats in parts of the country.
A major highlight of his trip was a high-level meeting in Paris with Mr. Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor for Africa to the U.S. Department of State. The discussions centered on strengthening Nigeria-U.S. bilateral ties with a focus on regional security, economic cooperation, and sustainable development.
One of the key areas of collaboration was the push for long-term peace in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), emphasizing the need for multilateral coordination and the active involvement of African regional stakeholders.
President Tinubu’s return signals a renewed push for implementing key initiatives discussed abroad, as Nigeria continues to position itself as a central player in Africa’s geopolitical and economic landscape.
