The Kaduna State Police Command has distanced itself from a viral social media post allegedly made by one Hadaina Hussaini, also known as Dan-taki, who posed as a police officer while making inciting comments regarding the recent Uromi killings.
In a statement released on Friday, the Command described the post, which bore the caption “Kaduna Police Officer Threatens Retaliation Against Southerners in Uromi Killings,” as misleading and false. The police clarified that Hussaini is not, and has never been, a serving officer of the Nigeria Police Force or the Kaduna State Police Command.
According to the statement, Hussaini was formerly a member of the Police Special Constabulary (PSC), a voluntary community policing outfit, but was dismissed from service two years ago due to what was described as “questionable character.”
The Command noted that the viral photos of Hussaini in police uniform were taken during his time as a constabulary member and were first posted online two years ago, well before his dismissal. It urged members of the public to observe that his identity card bears the code ‘PSC/KD,’ indicating his former status as a special constable—not a regular police officer.
Hussaini has since been arrested and will face prosecution after preliminary investigations are concluded, in line with existing laws.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabi’u Muhammad, reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to professionalism, discipline, and the maintenance of peace. He stressed that the Force will not tolerate inciting statements, hate speech, or actions capable of threatening national unity.
He also called on the public to remain calm, be vigilant, and promptly report suspicious individuals or incidents to the nearest police station.
