Dr. Emana Ambrose-Amawhe, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) deputy governorship candidate in the 2023 general election in Cross River State, has officially resigned from the party.
In a resignation letter dated March 28, 2025, and addressed to the chairman of Edem Odo Ward in Akpabuyo Local Government Area, Ambrose-Amawhe announced that her departure was effective immediately.
She emphasized that the decision was not made lightly but affirmed her continued dedication to serving Cross River State and Nigeria in other capacities.
“I am writing to formally resign my membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect,” she stated. “I deeply appreciate the opportunities I’ve had to contribute to the party’s growth and the privilege of serving as its Deputy Governorship Candidate in the last general elections. It was an honor to be part of the party’s vision and engage meaningfully with the people.”
Ambrose-Amawhe noted that after careful reflection on the party’s current state, she felt it was the right time to move on.
“This decision was not an easy one, but I remain committed to serving my community and contributing to the progress of our state and nation in other ways,” she added.
Ambrose-Amawhe previously contested for a seat in the House of Representatives for the Bakassi/Akpabuyo/Calabar South Federal Constituency under the PDP and was the running mate to Senator Sandy Onor in the 2023 governorship election in Cross River.
