The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the construction of a 500-seater lecture theatre at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM).
The facility, built for the university’s College of Agronomy, was described by Akume as a significant milestone in the ongoing transformation of tertiary education in Nigeria. Represented by the Minister for Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, the SGF highlighted the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure in higher institutions.
“This project is a testament to President Tinubu’s strategic focus on agriculture as a catalyst for economic development and food security,” Akume said.
He expressed optimism that the new lecture theatre would enhance teaching, research, and innovation, further strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by university officials, government representatives, and other dignitaries, who lauded the project as a step toward improving learning conditions for students and faculty.
