Amidst the current economic climate, Rinsola Abiola, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership, has made a passionate appeal to Nigerian youth, urging them to maintain faith in President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Hobnob News reports that Abiola assured young Nigerians that their concerns remain a top priority for the government.
Speaking at a Ramadan lecture and Iftar organized by the Rinsola Abiola Foundation in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Abiola emphasized President Tinubu’s consistent support for youth empowerment, both during his campaign and in his actions since taking office.
She highlighted the recently formed National Youth Conference, of which she is a member, as evidence of the President’s commitment to engaging young Nigerians in governance and policy-making. Abiola stressed the inclusive nature of the conference committee, noting the participation of representatives from civil society organizations and individuals outside the ruling All Progressives Congress.
“I ask you to keep faith with this administration and trust that, as youth representatives serving within it, we are not unmindful of young people’s agitations,” Abiola stated. “We understand the challenges and are working to protect youth interests.”
She pointed to the appointment of a “truly young youth minister” and the ongoing work on the Student Loan Fund as concrete steps taken by the administration to address youth concerns. “Thankfully, we have a president who is himself youth-friendly and understands all too well the need to empower young people,” she added.
Abiola encouraged young Nigerians to actively participate in government initiatives and trust in the administration’s dedication to creating opportunities for them.
During the Ramadan lecture, Imam Kamaldeen Balogun, represented by Imam Mudashir Abdulrasheed, urged young Nigerians to acquire relevant skills to prepare for future leadership roles. He stressed the importance of youth empowerment in fostering positive contributions to nation-building.
The appeal from the presidential aide comes at a time when many young Nigerians are facing economic hardship and expressing concerns about the direction of the country. The government’s ability to deliver on its promises and maintain the trust of the youth will be crucial in the coming months. Hobnob News will continue to monitor the administration’s efforts to address youth concerns.
