Ogunbode Kodri Adedamola Olasunkami was reported missing on January 16. His girlfriend stated that he had called her before leaving for church, but when he failed to return, she insisted that he had indeed gone as planned.
During the investigation, the police arrested the church’s pastor, Prophet Whepetoji Babaniyah. Initially, he denied any involvement, claiming Ogunbode had never arrived.
However, further findings exposed a transfer of 1.5 million naira from Ogunbode’s account to the pastor’s, followed by another transfer to the pastor’s son. The police detained the pastor and later arrested his accomplices.
One of them confessed to murdering Ogunbode and removing some of his body parts. The rest were buried near CCC Ileri Oluwa Parish, LASU 2, PPL Ojo, Lagos.
The police recovered the remains and other incriminating evidence, including guns, axes, and cutlasses, indicating the pastor and his group might have committed additional crimes.
