Bauchi Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Wife Over Ramadan Meal Dispute

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old businessman, Nuru Isah, for allegedly killing his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, 24, following a dispute over food ingredients meant for breaking the Ramadan fast.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, revealed that officers responded to a reported homicide near Government Girls College, Fadamam Mada, Bauchi. Investigations indicate that a misunderstanding between the couple escalated into violence, leading to the tragic incident.

According to preliminary findings, Isah allegedly struck his wife with a cane, causing her to collapse and lose consciousness inside their home. She was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where doctors confirmed her death.

The police have taken Isah into custody, recovered the cane used in the attack, and launched a thorough investigation. Meanwhile, the deceased’s body has been deposited at the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Muhammad, reaffirmed the command’s dedication to ensuring justice, warning that “domestic violence is a grave offence with devastating consequences.” He assured the public that law enforcement remains committed to protecting lives and holding perpetrators accountable.
