Embattled music mogul Sean Combs, popularly known as Diddy, has filed a memo in New York federal court accusing US Attorney Tony Buzbee of misconduct. Diddy’s attorneys argue that Buzbee, who represents many of his sexual assault accusers, should not be allowed to handle cases in the federal district where many of his suits are filed.
The memo alleges that Buzbee engaged in “egregious misconduct” by filing nearly two dozen civil suits against Diddy in New York’s Southern District without permission to practice there. Additionally, Diddy’s team claims that Buzbee made public comments about Diddy that violated New York’s Rules of Professional Conduct.
In a separate development, Diddy’s criminal case has taken a new turn. The music mogul has filed a court motion claiming that the raids on his properties in Miami and Los Angeles were unconstitutional. The filing alleges that the warrants used to secure the raids were overbroad and included his iCloud account, mobile phones, and hotel room.
Diddy’s team claims that the warrant applications “presented a grossly distorted picture of reality” and excluded facts that would have been favorable to him. The motion also accuses prosecutors of engaging in “systemic deception” to obtain the warrants.
The developments come as Diddy prepares to face trial on sex trafficking charges. His defense team has maintained that the allegations against him are false and that the government’s case relies on flawed evidence.
