CORPS MEMBER KIDNAPPED, ABDUCTORS DEMAND N20M RANSOM

A member of the National Youth Service Corps, Rofiat Lawal, has been kidnapped by unknown abductors along the Benin-Ore Expressway. According to a Facebook post by a user, Agbakwara, Lawal was returning from Benin, Edo State to report to her place of primary assignment in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, when she was abducted.

The abductors are reportedly demanding a ransom of N20 million for her release. Lawal’s friend, Agbakwara, took to social media to raise awareness about the incident and appeal for help.

The Oyo State NYSC Coordinator, Odoba Oche, confirmed the incident and stated that security operatives had been alerted to take necessary action. However, Oche noted that Lawal had traveled to Benin without informing the NYSC authority, contrary to the organization’s instructions.

The incident has sparked concerns about the safety of corps members, particularly during travel. The NYSC has emphasized the importance of notifying authorities before traveling and avoiding night travels.
