Residents of Maiduguri have expressed concern over the activities of suspected ritualists who reportedly desecrate graves and remove human remains. The alarming incidents have raised fears among locals, prompting calls for urgent intervention.
The most recent case took place at the Ramon Yashi Graveyard in Bayan Quarters, where a newly dug but empty grave was discovered. This has fueled speculation about ritualistic practices in the area.
A resident, speaking anonymously, shared a disturbing account:
“We saw a dead body in the water, and when we returned to the graveyard, we found a freshly dug grave. However, it was empty, with no corpse inside.”
The situation has unsettled the community, with many urging security agencies and the Borno State government to take swift action.
