APC Goes Digital: Party Engages Private Firm for Membership E-Registration

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a significant step towards modernizing its internal processes by engaging Tunmef Global Limited to oversee a nationwide digital membership registration exercise. This initiative aims to create a comprehensive and up-to-date database of party members ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The official agreement signing took place on Tuesday night at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, attended by key stakeholders, including the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, as well as his counterparts from Cross River, Bassey Otu, and Kogi State, Usman Ododo. Also present were APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, members of the National Working Committee, and state chairmen of the party.

Commitment to Digital Transformation

Speaking at the event, Governor Hope Uzodimma highlighted that the initiative reflects APC’s commitment to leveraging technology for efficiency, transparency, and party growth.

“We must thank President Bola Tinubu for his vision in embracing digital transformation. The world has moved beyond analogue; we are now in the era of digital economy, digital politics, and digital social order. This exercise will enhance the integrity of our membership register. If we say we have 10 million members, the system will confirm it. Likewise, when we go to the polls, we can ensure that our members actively participate,” Uzodimma stated.

He further emphasized that the APC is fully prepared for political competition and remains committed to strengthening democratic values.

Ganduje: A Milestone for APC

APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for endorsing the initiative, stating that the program had been long envisioned but was only now being realized.

“This initiative marks a historic moment for APC. It was conceived long ago but faced several setbacks. Today, we are happy that President Tinubu has approved and supported it. The party has also mobilized internal resources to finance this project. With this, APC has officially transitioned from an analogue system to a fully digital one,” Ganduje said.

He added that the new system would provide accurate data on APC’s membership, eliminating inconsistencies in party records.

“Without documentation of this nature, a party can be left in the dark. Now, we will have scientific data that can be referenced at any time. During litigations, for instance, disputes over membership lists often arise. With this system, we can easily retrieve accurate records and avoid complications,” he noted.

How the E-Registration System Works

APC’s National Legal Adviser, Prof. AbdulKareem Kana, provided an overview of the e-registration exercise, explaining that it would link each member’s registration number to their National Identity Number (NIN).

“The project was approved by the governors and President Tinubu. After a rigorous selection process, Tunmef Global Limited was chosen to execute the project based on its technical expertise. The necessary funds were raised within the party to support the initiative,” Kana explained.

He further stated that the digital database would allow the APC to access detailed information on its members instantly, from any location, ensuring better organization and transparency.

A Game Changer for APC

With this initiative, the APC is setting a new standard in political organization and membership management in Nigeria. The e-registration system is expected to streamline party operations, improve voter mobilization, and enhance internal decision-making processes. As the 2027 general elections approach, the APC is positioning itself as a party fully equipped with modern tools to drive its political agenda effectively.
