Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has advised northern politicians eyeing the presidency in 2027 to shelve their ambitions. According to Ganduje, President Bola Tinubu will serve two full terms, and power will return to the North in 2031.
Ganduje’s statement seems to counter former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai’s hint that the North could replicate its 2015 treatment of President Goodluck Jonathan against Tinubu in 2027. Speaking at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, Ganduje emphasized the party’s commitment to power rotation, ensuring a fair balance between the North and South.
The APC chairman acknowledged the country’s challenges, attributing them to long-standing issues that require time and serious intervention. Despite this, Ganduje expressed confidence in Tinubu’s policies, stating that economic improvements are already taking shape.
Ganduje’s remarks have sparked interest in the political landscape, with many wondering how this will affect the APC’s strategy for the 2027 elections. As the situation unfolds, one thing is clear: the APC’s commitment to power rotation will play a significant role in shaping the country’s future.
