A deadly attack by bandits in the Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State on Thursday has left two people dead and an unknown number of persons kidnapped. However, the state police command successfully foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued 13 victims in a fierce gun battle with the bandits.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the bandits, armed with AK-47 rifles, attacked Maibakko village in Sabuwa Local Government Area, kidnapping residents. The police received a distress call at around 1:43 am and swiftly responded to the scene, engaging the bandits in a gun battle.
Although the police were able to rescue 13 victims, the bandits managed to kill two people and injure one. The rescued victims have been reunited with their families, and efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the other victims and the arrest of the perpetrators.
The police command has reassured citizens of its commitment to ensuring their safety and security, and will continue to work tirelessly to prevent and combat crime.
