Ten people were killed at Risbergska School in Sweden by a gunman, Rickard Andersson, who later took his own life. Swedish media identified Andersson as the suspected shooter. Police reported that he was found dead at the scene, with numerous weapons and large amounts of ammunition. Authorities also raided his home as they investigate the motive behind the attack.
Andersson, a 35-year-old unemployed recluse, had minimal social interaction and had previously attended classes at an adult education center. Investigators revealed that the victims came from “different nationalities, different genders and different ages,” according to Expressen.
The first identified victim was Salim Iskef, a 29-year-old Syrian refugee. He had fled the war in Syria in 2015 and was an Orthodox Christian. His aunt described him as a “very kind person” who “just wanted to finish his studies,” as reported by Alkompis. A Bosnian citizen was also confirmed among the dead, according to the country’s foreign ministry on X. However, Swedish police have not officially named any of the victims.
Forensic experts are working to identify those killed in the tragic mass shooting that occurred on Wednesday. Lars Bröms, who is leading the efforts to identify the deceased, stated on Tuesday that they hoped the victims’ identities would be revealed within 48 hours. He also mentioned that interviews would be conducted with the families of missing individuals to aid in the identification process.
