The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Nigerians to reject the return of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The APC criticized the PDP as a political entity plagued by internal leadership crises, claiming it is steadily heading towards political irrelevance.
Bala Ibrahim, the National Publicity Director of the APC, made this appeal during an interview with Sunday PUNCH. He accused the PDP of leaving a legacy of mismanagement during its 16 years in power, which, according to him, continues to affect the nation’s development.
“Nigeria is still reeling from the rot caused by the PDP’s 16-year misrule. That party is on the brink of extinction. Are these the people Nigerians want to trust with power again? It’s almost laughable,” Ibrahim stated.
He further claimed that the APC is confident in its performance and governance, despite facing its own challenges. “While we acknowledge that no party is perfect, the APC is committed to reforms, economic growth, and national unity. We are not here to entertain; we are here to govern effectively,” he added.
Ibrahim urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and not be swayed by what he described as the PDP’s attempts to regain power through propaganda. “The APC is working hard to correct the mistakes of the past and create a prosperous future. Let’s not allow the PDP to derail the progress we’ve made,” he concluded.
The 2027 elections are expected to be highly competitive, with both major parties gearing up to present their candidates and strategies to win the trust of the Nigerian electorate.
