Trump Orders Airstrikes on ISIS Targets in Somalia

The United States military conducted precision airstrikes on Islamic State (ISIS) targets in Somalia on Saturday, following orders from President Donald Trump. The announcement was made via Truth Social, where Trump confirmed that the strikes specifically targeted a senior ISIS attack planner along with other terrorists under his command.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth provided further details, stating that the airstrikes focused on ISIS operatives located in the Golis Mountains within the semi-autonomous Puntland region. “Our initial assessment indicates that multiple ISIS operatives were killed, and no civilian casualties have been reported,” Hegseth noted in an official statement.

Local military sources corroborated the occurrence of the strikes. Mohamed Ali, a military commander in the Bossaso area, told AFP, “We don’t know so far the number of casualties, but we believe the missiles precisely hit the targets.” The airstrikes are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle ISIS networks and reduce their operational capabilities in the region.
