The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the postponement of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration to Monday, February 3. The registration was initially set to begin on Friday, January 31, but was postponed to allow the Board to implement essential adjustments to its registration templates.
According to Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, the postponement was due to the suspension of law programmes in some Nigerian universities and the approval of deceitful facilities as Computer-Based Test centres in certain locations. Benjamin explained that the Board discovered some CBT centres had used deceptive facilities to gain approval, prompting the need for further scrutiny and corrections .
JAMB apologized to prospective UTME candidates and other stakeholders for any inconvenience caused by the adjustments, assuring them of a seamless registration process. The Board advised candidates to use the additional time to prepare by securing their National Identification Number and a unique phone number.
The postponement comes after JAMB announced that it would no longer conduct admissions for the Law programme in eight universities, including Kwara State University, Bingham University, and Redeemers University, among others. The decision followed the suspension of the Bachelor of Laws programme for the 2025/2026 academic session by the Council of Legal Education.
