Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has urged contractors handling the repairs of failed sections of the Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi highway to complete the project before the onset of the rainy season. The governor made this charge during an inspection tour of the road on Saturday, where he interacted with contractors and inquired about potential challenges.
The Edo State Government is overseeing the ongoing palliative work on the failed sections of the road. Okpebholo emphasized the importance of completing the project on time, ensuring that the roads are motorable, and assuring residents that the government is doing everything possible to achieve this goal.
During his inspection tour, the governor visited several sections of the highway, including Ugha, Ehor, Ihie, Utene, Igieduma, Okemuen communities, as well as Power Line off Ukhun road Eguare Ekpoma, Iruekpen, Idumebo, and Okpoji junction.
Residents of the areas inspected praised the governor for his efforts in repairing the roads. At Power Line off Ukhun Road, Eguare in Ekpoma, residents thanked Okpebholo for rescuing them from being cut off from other parts of the state. Similarly, at Okpoji junction in Ekpoma, a large crowd of residents welcomed the governor and appreciated his administration’s quality of work.
A student at Ambrose Ali University Ekpoma, Mr. Christian Obi, expressed happiness over the repairs, thanking the governor for restoring the area. Mrs. Margaret Agbonzele also praised the governor for addressing the challenges along the highway, putting smiles on their faces.
