Terrorist Leader Bello Turji Ready to Surrender, Says Defence Chief

In a significant development, notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji has expressed his willingness to surrender, according to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa. This revelation came during General Musa’s appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Friday.

General Musa attributed Turji’s decision to the military’s recent successes, which have significantly weakened his position. The military operations have led to the elimination of Turji’s second-in-command and several top lieutenants, forcing him to release many hostages and consider laying down arms.

However, General Musa noted that tracking Turji has been challenging due to his unpredictable movements and ability to blend in with local communities. Despite these challenges, the military’s recent accomplishments have created pressure on Turji’s group, ultimately leading to his decision to surrender.

It’s worth noting that the military has intensified its offensive against Turji’s network, killing his deputy, Aminu Kanawa, and severely injuring others close to him. Several top commanders in Turji’s faction have also been neutralized, and over 24 fleeing terrorists have been eliminated in operations across Sokoto and Zamfara states.

While Turji’s willingness to surrender is a positive development, General Musa emphasized the need for justice, stressing that individuals responsible for violence and the deaths of innocent citizens must be held accountable.
