The father of Timilehin Ajayi, the gospel singer arrested for the brutal killing of National Youth Corps member Salome Adaidu, has made a public plea for his son’s release. In an interview with Channels Television, Ajayi’s father asked for government intervention in the matter, seeking assistance to have his son released.
“I want the government to help me so that the matter is settled. I want them to help me beg so that he is released,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ajayi’s mother has expressed resignation, saying she has left the situation entirely in the hands of the government. “If it was one of my daughters they did that to, how would I feel?” she remarked. “So government can do anything they want to do. Everything is in their hands,” she added.
Ajayi was found in possession of the severed head of Salome Adaidu in a polythene bag and has since been remanded by the Nasarawa State High Court. The gruesome crime took place in Agwan Sarki, Orozo, a community near the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a confession during his interrogation, Ajayi admitted to the murder, revealing that he had been in a one-year relationship with Adaidu prior to her death. He claimed that a heated argument led to a violent confrontation, during which Adaidu allegedly attempted to stab him with a knife. Ajayi, who had previously promoted himself as a motivational speaker on TikTok, disclosed that the rest of Adaidu’s body was located at his residence.
Adaidu’s remains have since been buried, with a viral video capturing the sorrowful scene of mourners performing the burial.
