Meting Injustice with Justice: Okpebholo Right’s Obaseki’s Wrong

In a move hailed as a victory for justice and fairness, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has corrected a long-standing injustice perpetuated by his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki. For eight years, Obaseki outsourced the employment of sweepers to a contractor friend, who was paid N100,000 per sweeper, while the actual workers received a meager N20,000 per month, despite risking their lives daily to health hazards.

Governor Okpebholo has taken a bold step to right this wrong by fully employing these hardworking cleaners as civil servants in Edo State. They will now earn the minimum wage, a move that has been welcomed as a true act of justice for those who were long denied fair treatment.

This development is a testament to Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to fairness and justice, earning him the nickname “Authentic Integrity.” His actions have brought relief to the affected workers and their families, who can now look forward to a better future.

In contrast, Obaseki’s administration has been criticized for its handling of the sweeper employment contract, which was seen as exploitative and unfair. The contractor’s hefty payment, while the workers struggled to make ends meet, raised eyebrows and sparked outrage.

Governor Okpebholo’s decision to employ the sweepers as civil servants is a significant step towards addressing the injustices of the past and promoting fairness and equality in Edo State.
